Although my experience is with science education, I have always considered myself a multidisciplinary teacher.  I believe that every teacher is a language arts teacher.  It is our job to support our content with the skills necessary to obtain the information.

My philosophy on language arts education is multifaceted.  Below are some strategies you would see implemented in my language arts classroom:

Reading

  • CAFE Strategies
  • Self-Selected Texts (when possible)
  • Book Talks
  • Reader’s Workshop
  • Graphic Organizers
  • Reader’s Theatre

Writing

  • 6+1 Traits of Writing
  • Writer’s Workshop
